Setting the Record Straight

Outside groups are spending thousands and thousands of dollars trying to distort my record with misleading attacks.

Wyoming voters deserve the facts. Below are the claims you may have heard or seen and what I actually voted for.

    The vote referenced in the ad was not about spending tax dollars. It was a procedural vote on introducing legislation that would have changed eligibility for certain public benefits.

    The bill never became law.

    I have never voted to create a Wyoming program that spends taxpayer dollars on illegal immigrants.

    FALSE

    Wyoming has never had a sanctuary city.

    I voted for the 2025 law banning sanctuary cities. The ad relies on votes involving an earlier bill with a different enforcement mechanism, not support for sanctuary cities.

    I voted for Wyoming's law protecting girls' sports.

    The vote referenced in the ad dealt with one proposed criminal penalty. It was not a vote to allow these procedures.

    I later voted for legislation that revoked the medical license of any provider who performs these procedures on a minor.

    • I voted for the legislation banning providers from performing these procedures on minors through medical license revocation twice. SF144 (2023) and again SF099 (2024).

    This claim misrepresents what the 2023 bill was about.

    Voting against that bill was not a vote to allow classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity, the bill also only applied to grades K–3 and had legal and enforcement problems.

    In 2024, Eric voted for a stronger parental rights law covering all K–12 students. It became law.

    FALSE

    The bill cited in the ad was a lodging tax for tourism promotion. It had nothing to do with gasoline or diesel.

    I have never sponsored legislation raising Wyoming's fuel tax.

    I did support a lodging tax that is paid primarily by visitors and helps promote Wyoming tourism.

    But the claim about mineral taxes is backwards. I helped reduce Wyoming's coal severance tax.
